Hungary vs. France: Euro 2020 Predictions

After a narrow victory against Germany, France will be looking to get the three points against Hungary to qualify for the next stages.

Hungary, on the other hand, faces a big test against the defending World Cup champions. Can they get a victory? Let’s find out what their chances are in the game.

Our Prediction:

France 2-0 Hungary

Actual Result:

France 1-1 Hungary

Hungary welcomed Portugal at Puskás Aréna in the first matchday of UEFA Euro 2020. The hosts did well before they derailed into mediocrity.

They conceded three goals in the last seven minutes of the game, thanks to an opener through a deflected shot.

It was not long after that when Ronaldo tripled the lead, thanks to a penalty and a wonderful one-touch football.

The fans in Budapest might not like it, but it remains a sight to be seen for a team that’s ranked 37th in the world. Would they be able to reverse things and still examine qualifying opportunities? We highly doubt it.

Didier Deschamps and his men were in fine form against the Germans after winning one goal.

France’s only goal came from the opposition player Mats Hummels who inadvertently put in his net that Lucas Hernandez turned in.

It was an unfortunate night for Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema as the officials disallowed their goals. However, both of them will try and convert their chances against Hungary this time.

Possible lineups

France will keep its lineup unchanged from the game against Germany. Hungary, however, will make a few changes after a horrendous display of football in the last ten minutes of the match against Portugal.

Hungary: Gulacsi; Botka, Orban, Attila Szalai; Lovrencsics, Schafer, Kleinheisler, Nagy, Fiola; Sallai, Adam Szalai

France: Lloris; Pavard, Varane, Kimpembe, Hernandez; Pogba, Kante, Rabiot; Griezmann; Mbappe, Benzema

We’re predicting a comfortable victory and qualification for France.

Our prediction: France 2-0 Hungary

The Frenchmen will be aiming to win against the Hungarians and qualify for the next stages rather than struggling against Portugal in the third matchday.
