Group B of the UEFA Euro 2020 will see Russia and Denmark competing for the second, third, or even fourth place spot.
All eyes will be set on this group on matchday three. Russia and Finland are tied on three points, while Denmark does not have a single point. If Denmark manages to beat Russia with a fair margin and Belgium beats Finland, Denmark may have a chance to qualify.
Russia 1-1 Denmark
Russia 1-4 Denmark
Russia started their Euro campaign with a disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Belgium. However, all is not lost because they grabbed a victory over Finland in a feisty encounter.
The third position might also suffice for qualification, but Russia might not be willing to risk it. Nevertheless, a spot in the next stages might prove to be a massive step for the Russians since the last time they progressed from the group stages was back in 2008.
The Danes were favourites to take the second spot in the group stages, and they were off to a flying start against Finland in the first game. However, the circumstances turned against them as Christian Eriksen suffered a terrible injury.
Denmark will try and put its strong foot forward to find a way to qualify to the next stages. It may not seem easy, but we think it’s possible if they play with confidence.
The two teams might line up like this:
Russia: Safonov; Barinov, Diveev, Dzhikiya; Karavaev, Ozdoev, Zobnin, Golovin, Kuzyaev; Miranchuk; Dzyuba
Denmark: Schmeichel; Wass, Kjaer, Christensen, Maehle; Delaney, Hojbjerg, Jensen; Braithwaite, Wind, Poulsen
Both teams need a win, and both of them will attack ferociously on both ends. The question is, who breaks the deadlock first.
Our prediction: Russian 1-1 Denmark
