Spain and Slovakia will go head-to-head on the final matchday of the group stages of UEFA Euro 2020.
The two teams are on the verge of parting ways. Despite being the group’s favourite team, Spain sits in third place right now.
Slovakia 0-1 Spain
Slovakia 0-5 Spain
It has been a rollercoaster ride for the Slovakian team. The team has already managed to defy the expectations of its fans.
However, sitting above the group’s favourites and playing against them in the final matchday will be their final test.
Would they able to see things differently and maintain their hot form? We can only wait to find out.
After two points in two games, Spain sits third in the group behind first-placed Sweden and second-placed Slovakia with four points and three points.
Spain’s only goal in the Euro campaign came from Alvaro Morata, which Robert Lewandowski cancelled in later stages.
The possession style of play is not particularly working out in Spain’s favour as they haven’t converted any of the created chances, but there’s more to it than their possession-play.
Spain came close to sealing the victory, but Villareal forward Gerard Moreno missed the penalty from the spot as his shot hit the side of the post.
As things stand, Spain faces a fierce exit. Will they be able to change the course of events? We certainly hope so.
Barring any injury or suspension news, the Spanish and Slovakian team will be lining up like the following:
Slovakia: Simon; Llorente, Pau Torres, Laporte, Alba; Busquets, Koke, Pedri; Moreno, Morata, Olmo
Spain: Dubravka; Pekarik, Skriniar, Satka, Hubocan; Kucka, Hromada; Haraslin, Hamsik, Mak; Duda
Spain needs a win, and Luis Enrique will be making sure of that.
Our prediction: Slovakia 0-1 Spain
Spain lost two points in their last game when Lewandowski converted a superb cross from the right flank, but their hopes are very much alive. The strikers will capitalize on the chances and convert them right when it is needed.
