Turkey and Wales will meet in a gutsy contest on Wednesday evening. It was a rather lousy start by both sides as the Dragons drew their first game by 1-1, and Turkey lost 3-0 to Italy.
The future of both teams in the competition is nonetheless decided in this game. Turkey are the favourites to win the tie, but do they have what it takes to take their opposition by a storm? Let’s find out.
Turkey 2-1 Wales
Turkey 0-2 Wales
After a fearsome display of football against the Italians, Turkey was shredded into pieces on the first matchday of UEFA Euro 2020.
Turkey will go into the match, boasting an impressive record against Wales. Their last defeat against the Welsh side came in 1981.
Since Turkey has relished victory on every occasion over Wales, they will be looking to maintain that record today.
In all honesty, Wales were lucky to escape with a draw in their close encounter against Switzerland.
In addition, the same thing was admitted by their head coach Rob Page in the post-match press conference.
Wales will be looking to put their strong foot forward and win the game against a confidence-deprived Turkey side.
Both sides will stay unaltered, with the exception of news of any late injury.
Turkey: Cakir; Celik, Demiral, Soyuncu; Meras; Under, Yazici, Yokuslu, Kahveci, Calhanoglu; Yilmaz
Wales: Ward; Roberts, Mepham, Rodon, Davies; Allen, Morrell; Bale, Ramsey, James; Moore
Our experts predict a measly 1-1 draw or a 2-1 victory for the Turkish side. If Yilmaz proves his lethal stance on the pitch, there’s no way Wales stand a chance.
Our prediction: Turkey 2-1 Wales
It won’t come as a surprise if the two sides end up drawing. After all, Group A had ‘draws’ written all over it.
